I'm Engaged!

Quinn flew into San Fransisco in order to drive home with me after my 3.5mo internship for the Coast Guard. After a long stressful day of driving (and speeding tickets! ...oops) we finally made it to beautiful Ventura, California where we would be spending the weekend with long-time family friends the Lynn's.

After spending some time with the family Keegan and his girlfriend Arianna drove us to Serra Cross Park to enjoy the sunset over the ocean. Once we had taken some group photos we ended up driving to the beach. At the beach we walked and talked, and I got distracted by the pelicans diving for fish. Bad time to get distracted because... Quinn started saying "You know I love you with all my heart..." and I kept interrupting saying- "I know I know, but check out the birds!" Then he went into "You know I want to spend the rest of my life with you..." and yet again I let my fascination with the birds get in the way. FINALLY Quinn had enough and physically made me look at him where he said everything again and proceeded to drop to one knee, asking "Taylor Aleece Younker, will you marry me?" Of course I said "Yes."

My last weekend here...

So every Sunday I would notice this flag...

...and I finally took a picture.

It flies from approx. 8am-1pm (times around service at the Chapel).
Here is the history. I wish they would fly it more...

My last weekend here was well spent, despite the pouring rain. I guess it was fitting, I came in the rain, I'll leave in the rain.

Friday we got to see the opening of Wolverine, it was a really good movie (answered a lot of questions too).

Saturday six of us braved the weather and the sea. Chaplain Smothers arranged a kayaking trip for us, getting a discount of $20 ($85 to $65). We received a 4hr tour of Tomales Bay with Nick's Cove as our launching point. Fleece vests, wool caps, dry suit tops, spray skirts, pfd's, paddles, and tandem (aptly named: "divorce boats" in the industry) kayaks were provided. Along with hot tea and cocoa during our 20min stop on the island. We saw elk, a sea lion, two otters, crabs, aleopard shark, jelly fish, star fish, and had a bat ray run into our kayak. On the way back we started losing our rutter, and it finally gave out. So, Alex and I had to paddle on the right side for the whole 1.5mi accross the bay, fighting the wind, rain, and waves. It was a blast though, once in a lifetime kind of thing! Once we all got back Monsters vs. Aliens had just started in the base theatre (matinees are FREE), so I grabbed my dry hoodie and blanket to wrap up in from my car and we headed in to enjoyed the movie, even though we were a bit wet.

After church on Sunday I took a nap then headed over to the Moniz's house for dinner. I ended up getting to bake cake-cookies for them (my first oven in 3.5mo!), and we played skip-bo. It was a fun "family" evening. =) Next week I'll be doing stuff like that with my own family.

5 days left. Then my life changes again. The future awaits!
