The took us out to dinner at Bibas Restaurant, where the boys got BBQ ribs and the ladies enjoyed some Mahi-Mahi. We finished with delicious desserts of creme brulee and macadamia nut ice cream (not together of course!).
After dinner we walked down the beautiful white sand beach to find a spot to enjoy the fireworks show, about 10min before the show started a dark cloud floated by dumping a large amount of rain on us, so we took shelter under a nearby tree to wait it out. Sure enough 5min later the cloud floated out to sea and we walked back onto the beach just in time for the fireworks show.
We walked the entire length of the Ft. DeRussy Recreation area until we found a nice little picnic area where we sat down to talk. Their son and his family ended up walking past us on their way back from a shopping adventure in Waikiki so we got to meet them and talk for a bit, however they had been bit by a lot of mosquitoes and opted to head back to their hotel room.
We stayed and continued our conversations, at one point a man asking for money came by and we refused... which led us into a discussion about how we aren't suppose to refuse even if we think they'll just buy booze or drugs, because we could be "entertaining angels" and by giving we can ultimately bless others. Talk about guilt trip. Not 15min later God gave us another chance. Two guys on bicycles had congregated near the picnic area's trash can, one guy left and went into a make-shift tent about 200yds away on the beach. The other man took the lid off the trash can pulled out a Chinese food box and started eating the left-overs! Mind you- someones old food, germs, it was in a trash can, and we had just seen a mouse rummaging. Grandpa got up, walked over to the man, pulled out his wallet and handed him some money while saying "Son, go buy yourself a proper meal, and God Bless." He thanked grandpa profusely while swallowing his nasty left-over food then rode off into the night... or so we thought. He ended up coming back to that little make-shift tent on the beach with take-out to share with everyone inside! Talk about instant knowledge of where your money truly went.
